a joint investigation by the Financial Times and Il Sole 24 Ore, an Italian business daily, shows that a tanker seen at Iraq's Khor al-Amaya terminal by a UN inspector was involved in the single largest and boldest smuggling operation in the oil-for-food programme - and that the operation was conducted with the knowledge of the US government."
This all occurred after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and shortly before the U.S. invaded Iraq. The article's author's state that it occurred in February of 2003 -- just one month before the bombs began to rain down on Baghdad.
Well!! Imagine that!!
The Bush neo-cons and the blockhead conservative squawking heads have been screaming for U.N. General Secretary Kofi Annan's balls on a platter over the Iraq Oil for Food scandal lately.
Lo and behold here we have a story which says that not only was the Bush regime playing footsie with the dreaded Saddam monster in this same scandal, but they were complicit in the mother of all illegal deals themselves!!
The article goes on to say:
"Although the financial beneficiaries were Iraqis and Jordanians, the fact remains that the US government participated in a major conspiracy that violated sanctions and enriched Saddam's cronies," a former UN official said. "That is exactly what many in the US are now accusing other countries of having done. I think it's pretty ironic."
Pretty ironic?? Pretty ironic???
Fucking goddamn impeachable offense if you ask me!!! If the standard for impeaching a duly-elected, sitting U.S. President is that he lied about having a consensual sexual affair, then by that same standard, we ought to be stringing up this fraudulently selected, lying, treasonous sonafabitch Bush (along with all the psychotic, pinhead enablers in his crime cabal) from the nearest oak tree!!

Just imagine for a moment if the Supreme Court goons hadn't interfered in Florida in 2000 and this was a Gore presidency and it was Gore playing hide the petroleum salami with an enemy that was supposedly ready to nuke America at any given moment?? There would be hordes of frothing-at-the-mouth conservatives storming the Oval office to tar and feather Gore and his aides, chop off all their heads and parade them hoisted on sticks up and down Pennsylvania Avenue. Fox News and their wingnut brigade of mind-warped pundits would be guffawing over the spectacle 24x7, Rush Limbaugh in a fit of glee would overdose on hillbilly heroin, Ann Coulter would experience her first ever orgasm, Sean Hannity would suddenly discover the joy of masturbation, Bill O'Reilly would exclaim he was on the verge of breaking the story himself . . . . yadda, yadda, yadda --- I think you get the picture.
If America truly had a free press, this story would be plastered all over the front pages of the top dailies, the leadoff story on every national newscast, and headed straight for a thorough and totally bipartisan criminal investigation by Congress and the Department of Justice.
Will George W. Bush get away with another in a long list of treasonous crimes?? Sure looks like it at this point if only the Financial Times seems to be interested in the story.
