An Open Letter to Rush Limbaugh and Conservatives...Failure Is Only An Option In The Minds of Losers

Some folks that I know have a very difficult time understanding the visceral disgust and downright animosity I have toward the Republican party these days. The rage I have coursing thru my veins on this subject frequently ends up in written format either in e-mail exchanges or here on my blog and it has at times strained both close and informal relationships to the breaking point. One thing, however, is undeniable amidst all of the emotional partisan hoopla -- I have been reliably consistent with my feelings about the Republican party for the better part of 8-9 years now and events of the past year up to and including today have only served to cement those feelings and that attitude in me more completely than ever.

Ever since the Bill Clinton witch-hunt and the rise of AM hate radio and Fox News polluting the airwaves and the GOP election tampering in 2000 and 2004, I've steadily come to believe with every fiber of my being that the modern-day hard core conservatives, the ones who currently own and manage the Republican party and it's vast moneyed politi-media apparatus, purposefully do not have the best interests of this country's people and future on their minds or in their hearts. This view I have culminated this past week with the news of serial liar, stealth racist, consummate hypocrite and un-reformed drug addict -- oh and conservative mouthpiece icon -- Rush Limbaugh -- proclaiming to his sycophantic, brain-dead followers that he sincerely hopes President Barack Obama fails. Nevermind the weasely excuse that Limbaugh gave afterward purporting to claim that the statement is meant to say that he's really referring to hoping only "librul" policies fail, the sheer selfishness, vindictiveness and and general vileness of that proclamation ought to be reason enough to strip this fat-ass piece of human shit of his U.S. citizenship and deport him off to whatever right-wing autocracy he so chooses to ply his trade and live out the remainder of his worthless life in.

Hoping the Obama administration fails is a cruel and mindlessly direct plea for America as a country and it's people to fail -- Limbaugh's gymnastic semantics be damned. I dare any of my conservative friends to show me proof of a liberal media personality, with the identical size audience and political clout of a Limbaugh, making that kind of overt statement, on a major media outlet, about George W. Bush these past years. And don't play the game of citing specific Bush policies or actions that people spoke out against - it's not the same as Limbaugh's blanket statement - not even close.

I just finished reading a Reuter's News Service article with the title of "Despair Spreads Amid Mounting Job Losses." The lead-in to the article details the travails of an American family man from Overland Park, Kansas who was laid off from his IT industry job less than a year ago. Despite exhaustive efforts to find new employment the man is still out of work, has exhausted his family's savings just to remain afloat, and is very fearful of his and his family's future. It's a heart-breaking story and one that is playing out day after day after day in homes and communities across our country right now. It is affecting millions of our fellow citizens, people who've played by the rules, worked hard and expected nothing more from their government except the fair chance at realizing their and their families American dream. And now, not only do they see their dreams slowly slipping thru their fingertips into a dark bottomless abyss, they see their political leaders, people in whom they put their faith and trust, playing political football with their very survival.

So what do the Republicans decide to do during these "...times that try men's souls?" What they're good at of course -- play ideology mumblety-peg by obstructing the new President's plan to effectively address the mounting crisis. Throwing childish hissy fits over manufactured, red-meat wedge issues in the President's plan, issues which the majority of Americans don't really give a rat's ass about. One wedge issue after another, stupid, mindless shit which give massive hard-ons to the religious right lunatics and their zombies, the GOP has been on the losing side of public opinion. A classic example is the Terry Schiavo case. Remember that one? Boy oh boy. What a vile spectacle the conservatives put on there. Fortunately, the outcome of that sordid episode was determined by saner and more humane minds and true to form that decision met with overwhelming approval in the public opinion arena as Republicans were trounced in poll after poll. And on and on it goes -- especially now that they are the "persecuted" minority party once again. They're pulling the same destructive stunts and they don't give a fucking damn how many people it ends up hurting.

So here's the black and white, bottom line situation of it all people -- I'm not a soothsayer and I don't know if Barack Obama and the Democrats can turn things around. But the one fact that cannot be denied is that I and millions of other people decided on Nov. 4th, 2008 that the then current White House occupant and his political party were not up to the task and were not offering a serious, viable vision for bettering this country's dire situation. By an 8-million vote margin we decided to give Senator Obama a chance to lead us out of the colossally incompetent shit-pile mess left by his predecessor. We simultaneously increased the ranks of the House and Senate Democratic majorities in the hopes of furthering the success of the new President's agenda. The majority spoke --- and boy did they speak RESOUNDINGLY!! That is irrefutable fucking reality folks.

So I say to everyone -- open your minds and your hearts and take a hard look at the ideas being offered up by President Obama, who by all reputable assessments that I've seen so far, is approaching this crisis with a fair and contemplative demeanor, trying to bridge differences, trying to compromise, trying to do the right thing by all of America. Then look at the wish for America's failure statement from Mr. Limbaugh, the Republican designated godfather, ambassador and mouth-organ of conservative ideas and tell me which man's vision you are willing to gamble yours and your family's future on. If you have to think about it more than 2 seconds I truly, truly, truly fucking pity you.

New Era, Same Old Story - - Dems Afraid to Fight For Their Vision . . .

I honestly and truly do not understand the inner workings of the modern conservative mindset. In this case I refer to the rabid GOP opposition to the inclusion of family planning funding in the Obama administration's stimulus package.

On one hand, the right-wingers screech endlessly about lazy shiftless minorities pumping out babies left and right who invariably end up on the public welfare rolls and thus sucking money out of Joe and Mary Sixpack's Walmart paychecks in the form of higher taxes.

Yet here is legislation that, if done properly, and since it's not under the purvey of the incompetent Bushies it likely will be, has the near term potential to save American taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars -- not to mention stemming the vicious cycle of tens of thousands of children being born into abject poverty thus increasing the burden on this country's social and medical network.

These right-wing conservatives are, to put it bluntly, bat-fucking-shit insane. Every reputable, non-ideological study shows that sensible family planning practices and programs end up saving society a substantial amount of money over the long run while simultaneously decreasing the stress on the country's social/medical system. It's a fucking no-brainer!

But noooooo -- the right wingers in the GOP would rather play ideological gotcha games than actually do the right thing that benefits the most people. Sadder yet, they still haven't accepted the reality of the last election wherein they got their collective asses handed to them on an electoral platter. With a plethora of vote trending studies showing that the GOP brand and message are an ever shrinking commodity, you'd think they'd fucking come to their senses and begin the arduous but necessary process of jettisoning their narrow-minded, losing policies in favor of more moderate ones. Doesn't look like it's going to happen.

In that case, my advice to Obama and the Dems is shove that progressive vision down their goddamn throats, no mercy, no compromise. 8 million more voters voted for the progressive vision for this country than the conservative one this past November. It's goddamn time the Democrats pulled their heads out of their fleshy assholes and acknowledge that.

Think Progress has a pretty good analysis of this issue.
Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say that there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.
