Say what?

To get off the "Birther" and "Health-care rent-a-mob" theme for a bit. I have to say something about this:

http://www.nytimes.com/glogin?URI=http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/09/science/earth/09climate.html&OQ=_rQ3D2Q26hp&OP=74809704Q2FIta.ISWQ7BlQ3CWW-Q2BIQ2BvvQ60IvQ26IvQ60IlQ7BBaQ25Q7BaIacQ3C-@IvQ60Q7BQ2FBoc-aQ22@-oQ2F

It's not global "warming" you fucking dolts --- it's global climate change. And the changes that are coming in your children's lifetime aren't going to be pretty.

Weekend M-Vloggin with -- Journey & Arnel Pineda Live!

Saw Journey and their new lead singer Arnel Pineda in concert last weekend. They were awesome as I fully expected.

I believe that I've stated it previously, Steve Perry is greatly missed, but if you want to hear Journey with a voice that sounds almost as damn good, the new kid on the block fills that role very nicely. Here's a video of "Lights". Video quality isn't the greatest -- we were way back in the lawn seats, but the audio isn't too bad (except my inebriated voice singing acapella in the background for a portion - lol).

Anyhow -- enjoy.

When the lights go down in the City
And the sun shines on the bay
Do I want to be there in my City
Ooh, ooh

So you think you're lonely
Well my friend I'm lonely too
I want to get back to my City by the bay
Ooh, ooh

It's sad, oh there's been mornings out on the road without you,
Without your charms,
Ooh, my, my, my, my, my

When the lights go down in the City
And the sun shines on the bay
Do I want to be there in my City
Ooh, ooh

When the lights go down in the City
And the sun shines on the bay
Do I want to be there in my City
Ooh, ooh

WTF was Obama thinking???

I have no fucking clue why Obama ever thought that Big Pharmaceutical companies might be willing to negotiate in good faith.

They've never ever been on the side of the American consumer and while Obama carried quite a bit of political leverage with him (an 8 million vote winning margin in the Presidential election) into the White House, I believe he miscalculated horribly in thinking that that leverage could be used to arm-twist a greedy industry into doing the right thing for America and Americans by passing off some of their perennially obscene profits to the consumers in dire need of price relief at the pharmacy counter.

Bone headed strategy to say the least.

Anyhow -- Obama gets a slap upside the head from me for this boondoggle of a mistake.

I'm quite certain that in this particular instance, Obama was Charlie Brown to Big Pharma's Lucy. Yep -- quite sure.

The Mighty Wurlitzer of Conservative Bullshit and Fear-Mongering is in Full Motion...

More vile, right-wing lying -- this one from the functionally illiterate leader of Redstate.com - Erick Erickson.

The money quote:
"Does the AARP’s members know about the endorsement of a healthcare plan that requires seniors to get instruction every five years on assisted suicide — a fact the AARP calls a “myth”?"

Really? I challenge Erick Erickson or any of my detractors to show me where in the legislation the term "assisted suicide" appears.

MY GAWD!! The willful treachery of these right wingers is utterly astounding. What lying ass-wipe Erick is referring to is a provision in the bill that allows Americans to CHOOSE (link to dictionary definition of the word "choose") to have a consultation about what is known as an "ADVANCED DIRECTIVE" - (link to definition of Advanced Directive).

It is an OPTIONAL benefit (link to definition of the word optional). Nobody is required to utilize this benefit if they choose (there's that word again) not to!

NOT MANDATORY. NOT MANDATORY. NOT MANDATORY.

OPTIONAL. OPTIONAL. OPTIONAL.

IF YOU CHOOSE TO HAVE A CONSULTATION EVERY FIVE YEARS, YOU CAN. IF YOU DO NOT CHOOSE TO DO IT, YOU DON'T HAVE TO.

Is that clear enough?

Sarah Palin says Obama wants to kill her baby . . . Seriously

This is why when I wake up every morning I say a little prayer to whatever God that gives a shit for not allowing Sarah Palin to come within a country mile of the Vice Presidency.

Here's the Hockey Mom's money quote:

"The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama's "death panel" so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their "level of productivity in society," whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil."

Sarah Palin obviously has taken one too many slap-shot hockey pucks upside her fucking pointy little head.

To make this kind of vile, incendiary accusation/assertion is irreproachable evidence (to the sane amongst us) as to why this woman was, still is, and will forever remain manifestly unqualified to be President of the United States -- much less Vice President.

If Sarah Palin had ever bothered to actually read the health-care bill, or at least had one of her many handlers read it to her, she would know there exists no such provision for advocating euthanasia of babies, the elderly or anyone for that matter in the health-care legislation currently under review in Congress -- none, nada, ZILCH! It's big fucking lie and Sarah Palin is big fucking liar for saying that.

Although, quite honestly, sometimes I'm of the opinion -- maybe there ought to be a provision for assisted suicide of the terminally fucking stupid in the bill -- you know -- for the likes of Palin and the other right wing mouth breathers that are propagating these bullshit, fear-mongering untruths.

All joking aside though, the fact that Sarah Palin appears to be willfully avoiding the responsibility to actually take the time to educate herself, not just about the health-care bill, but about the world beyond her Alaskan front porch, and all of the major issues and responsibilities the leader of the free world would have to deal with --- well --- that automatically disqualifies her from any leadership position in my view.

And it really says volumes about the voters of Alaska who put this vapid, inattentive, imbecilic cow in the Governor's office of their great state to begin with. At least she did them all a favor by quitting before she fucked them all up with her idiocy (kinda like Bush did to the U.S. as a whole). Unfathomable and downright scary.

The new Anarchists show their true colors . . .

More hooliganism from the birthers, health care industry rent-a-mobs and Glenn Beck lunatic fringe freaks. They know that they have no rational competing ideas to offer the country in the health care reform debate so they resort to what they do best - violence, bullying, all around boorish behavior with a tinge of racism. Brings new meaning to the phrase "The Ugly Americans."

----k

Ooh -- that had to hurt . . . .

Here you go conservatives. At least I can't be accused of not showing a video clip of the conservative point of view.

In this one here, you have the mind, face and voice of the anti-health care reform crowd, not to mention one of their chief strategists and funding sources.

If these are the guys you side with and support, says quite alot about you don't it?

I bet Rick Scott is kicking himself in the ass for going on the air unprepared to coherently defend his corrupt and shady business past. Rick Sanchez gutted him like a freshly caught dinner catfish. Lol.

Give 'em hell Harry ! !

Harry President Harry S. Truman speech from 1945 arguing in favor of universal health care for all Americans.

65 years of conservative Republican obstructionism to an idea that the rest of the "civilized" and industrialized nations on the planet long ago embraced. Why is it that conservatives always have to be dragged kicking and screaming into better, smarter and more moral ways of doing things? A sad lot they are.

In 1935 author Sinclair Lewis wrote:

"When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross."

I'd like to expound upon that just a tad. Not only do I believe fascism is already here in America today and wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross, it's also wearing a Tea-Party T-shirt, has a paystub from a conservative astroturf organization, has a pre-paid bus ticket from the same organization, sees black 'gubmint' helicopters hovering around every corner, and basically is rude, obnoxious and as stupid as a box of rocks.

Cue the Tea-bagger Zombie video evidence (keep barf bag handy):

Town Hall Rent-a-Mobs -- Corporate fascism disguised as freedom of speech . . .

Rachel Maddow peels the fetid camouflage off of the fraudsters posing as "angry, average, middle-class American's opposed to socialized medicine." These people are basically louts for hire that are being organized by big money, right wing, health insurance industry friendly political organizations to show up at (almost exclusively) Democratic Congressmen's town hall meetings to disrupt those meetings and shout down all other voices in the ongoing health care debate. And tellingly -- they offer absolutely no constructive competing ideas of their own while drowning out the conversation of others.

They can crow all day long about how what they are doing is "democracy" in action, but what they really are doing is behaving like the fascist thugs that they are and denying other American's the right to have a thoughtful, rigorous debate about a decision that affects ALL Americans, not just their small elite and politically powerful puppet handlers. The bottom line to this story is that the clout behind these angry town hall mobs is corporate, big business, right-wing conservative money and the very elite, very wealthy owners of that money have a vested interest (because alot of their money is invested in the health care industry) in seeing that any attempts to reform health care are strangled with the garrote of their corrupt political power. In other words -- they don't give a flying rat's ass about the crisis-stage health care situation of the affected millions of people in this country and I'd go so far as to say they really don't give a fuck about America's future in general.

Dem dirtbag - - Meet Lady Justice . . .

Good riddance!! A crook is a crook regardless of whether they have an (R) or a (D) after their name. Are you listening Jack Murtha??

----k

Scrape the bottom of that barrel Rupert ! !

Lord knows Fox Newz has a monopoly when it comes to on-air pundit assholes, but there's a very special category of asshole that is reserved solely for Dick Morris.

Morris as political observers may recall was the former high-flying adviser to Bill Clinton, who after getting caught sucking the toes of a D.C. hooker, resurrected his Washington insider career by becoming, practically overnight, a conservative Fox Newz analyst. Actually if you think about it -- a duplicitous, smug, ethically challenged, loud mouthed lout gets hired by Fox Newz. Now that is a match made in Heaven if ever there was one - lol.

Anyhow, Toe-sucker Morris went on one of the Fox ass-clown shows yesterday and opined about the Bill Clinton trip to North Korea to secure the release of American journalists Laura Ling and Euna Lee. When queried by Fox & Friends resident dim-bulb, blonde bimbo Gretchen Carlson what ideas Morris had for securing the American's release, Toe-sucker blurted out:
"I don't know. I don't know. Maybe they don't come home. Maybe they go to North Korea and live with the consequences of their decision to go there."
And -- well -- quite honestly, when it comes to vile statements by conservatives, this one has to rank right up there on an equally atrocious level as the one made recently by another Fox asshat analyst named Col. Ralph Peters who stated that the Taliban could do America a favor by executing the soldier, (Bowe Bergdahl) currently being held captive in Afghanistan to "save us a lot of legal hassles and legal bills."

There are times when I privately daydream that there really is a Hell where all the horrible, awful human beings go after dying to suffer eternal and incalculably gruesome anguish for the rotten things they did during their earthly lives. And during those brief, fantasized interludes, one of the very first people I gleefully envision walking the plank into Beelzebub's boiling cauldron of infernal torture is News Corp. (Fox parent) chairman Rupert Murdoch. Why? Just watch the following video clip -- it alone is reason enough.

Perhaps the Gitmo prisoners could use some new playmates?

In 1935, Smedley Butler, one of the most decorated United States Marines in history, wrote a little book called "War Is A Racket."

In one of the most crucial excerpts of that book, Butler wrote:
"War is a racket. It always has been. It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives. A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of the people. Only a small 'inside' group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few, at the expense of the very many. Out of war a few people make huge fortunes."
Ahh yes -- "...something that is not what it seems to the majority of the people." What a perfect metaphor for how the Iraq invasion and occupation was allowed to be implemented and (initially) perceived by most Americans.

Two-time Medal of Honor winner Gen. Butler was intimately knowledgeable about war -- not just the kind of war being waged out of a valid necessity of self defense mind you, but also the kind of war based on one of human kind's oldest vices -- greed.

And in the 75 years since Butler dared speak about the small cabal of evil men and their lust for political power, obscene monetary profit and undeserved glory at the expense of human life, not a whole hell of alot has changed.

Thus, this story about Erik Prince and his mercenary army for-hire goon squad - Blackwater, which if true, would not shock me in the least.

Thank you George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and Condi Rice for proving beyond a shadow of doubt that Smedley Butler, and later Dwight D. Eisenhower (see video below), were right with their frighteningly prescient warnings to all of us of the dangers of allowing the unholy marriage of corporate fascism and the military complex to proliferate unchecked. The fact that they've perversely cloaked it all in the mantle of religious fundamentalist righteousness makes it all the more sickening.
