And the shoe fits ugly on the other foot ....

Ok -- so the Repukes don't wan't to be accessories to the crime or cooperate. Fuck them.

Holder should take the investigation where it needs to go. Expose. Demonstrate. Crimes. Indict.

Simple as that.

Uh-oh - - - the "Torture is Good For America" crowd loses another spokesperson

CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. – The Marine commander who built the Guantanamo Bay prison said Thursday the U.S. lost the "moral high ground" with its brutal treatment of prisoners, and the facility should be closed as quickly as possible.

Maybe this Marine General should be sitting down with some Republican Senators and Congressmen to explain his views on the matter. Not that they'd give a shit -- Rush Limbaugh gives the GOP and conservatives their marching orders these days and lord knows the pill-popping, limp-dicked one certainly outranks Maj. Gen. Lehnert in the small minds of the right-wing hierarchy when it comes to knowledge and credibility on the subject of torture.

Oh - and not that it needs to be stated - don't expect this story to be covered at all on Fox News. Their cheer-leading support of torture has been nothing short of a bread and butter ratings boons with the rubes.

The things that wouldn't leave . . . . The Birthers are back

A splinter group from the original Obama "Birther" movement has an infomercial running on a CBS affiliated television station in Texas (Texas? oh my - who would have thunk it?) basically recycling all of the lies, forgeries, and manufactured outrage over Obama's birth certificate.

This new organization is run by an assklown named Gary Kreep (I know -- you just can't make this shit up).

Anyhow, you'd think that based on my views, I wouldn't lower myself to posting a video of their insipid little infomercial on my blog, but, quite frankly, I think it's important to watch this stuff because if you just laugh it off and ignore it, you really don't get an accurate depiction of just how fucking rabidly insane these right-wing assholes truly are.

So here you go -- enjoy the buffoonery:

Re: Obama - the new Sheriff in town . . . and life imitating art

With every passing day that I observe the ever decaying landscape of this country's political discourse - I am beginning to get the distinct impression that this video clip fairly accurately depicts what has happened to America since Obama's election. Simply substitute the Sheriff for Obama and the townspeople for right-wing, fundamentalist Republicans.

Granted - it's not subtle, but if you ask me it pretty much sums up the situation.

Wednesday M-Vloggin' - with Dion

Being the eternal optimist and 60's hippie at heart that I am, this song holds special meaning for me. I'm sure my conservative detractors will get the sudden urge to pull out their AR-15's and strafe their pc monitor while listening to this song and viewing this video --- but then that's just who they are and precisely why the world needs it's Abrahams, Martins, Johns and Bobbys --- harmonious balance.

Infuriating . . .

There's something very seriously fucked up about a political system that, within a two week period of time, allows you to go from being a sitting United States Senator to becoming a cash and carry lobbyist flashing your greenbacks and political connections in your former place of business -- the corridors of Washington.

This is not a conservative vs. liberal issue. It's an issue of salvaging the remnants of our Representative Democracy from the clutches of big money and undue corporate influence. In this case it's former Florida Senator Mel Martinez who's the subject of the article.

The article boldly states:

He cannot lobby the Senate for two years, under the Senate's post-employment rules for senators and high-ranking aides.

And you know that's a crock of shit. All that means is he cannot physically be seen on Capitol Hill shmoozing his ex-colleagues or caught on tape doing the same. He'll simply relay his deals through surrogates and peers at his new lobbying firm. The end result will be identical -- just no fingerprints.

It's time to pass a law banning all former Senators and Congressman, or other high ranking government officials, from being hired directly or indirectly by any lobbying firm for a minimum period of 5 years after leaving office. And the penalty for getting involved in any lobbying activities under that law would be a federal offense with a minimum sentence of 5 years in prison with no parole, a $1 million dollar fine and a lifetime ban from working for any firm that does business with, for or in front of the government.

You want to clean up the debilitating and corrupting influence of big business in government real quick and put an end to the revolving door of these political leeches preserving their feeding spot at the public trough? Just follow that criminal statute recipe that I outlined and you'll see the results.

The Sound of Silence . . .

Where's Rush Limbaugh to pontificate to all of us on the intricacies and complexities of race relations when you need him?

http://www.ajc.com/news/clayton/felony-charges-for-cracker-144818.html

I ask the question in all seriousness as the bloated pill popper seemed to have such a brilliant and insightful command of the subject when it came to this particular case.

Just saying . . .

All In the Family . . . .

Nooooo! I never could have imagined!!

It seems the father of one of the "film-makers" (the gal who portrayed the prostitute) who performed the video sting on the ACORN offices has a long and published history of right-wing nuttery along with a visceral dislike of liberals and minorities in general.

Smearing as a wing-nut family affair --- quite a novel concept if you can get past the overt sleaziness of it.
